Grand Dining Room

This room is one of 27 that we remodelled in a complete restoration of a Victorian Villa in Lancashire.

Whilst the room proportions were large, the light into the room was tricky. We introduced mirrors and mirrored items throughout the room to maximise daylight, but add a romantic air for evening dining by candlelight.

The mirror on the back wall hides a secret entrance that we introduced to allow easier access to the kitchen in a house originally designed to have servants.

A fireplace from Chesney with a remote control gas fire, ensures and authentic look without the hassle of building a real fire.

The large dining table was specially commissioned from William Yeoward to provide a good amount of dining space with complementing chairs being upholstered in dramatic damson with lime green button detail.

Lighting was essential for the look and feel of the room with rose pink shades designed to juxtapose against the blue and silver of the walls.

The wallcovering and curtains were designed to provide an ambience that hints at the historical, but remains contemporary. Automatic blinds behind the curtains allow shade from the sun to protect the delicate finishes and furnishings.
