Barn Conversion – Contemporary Refurb

Our clients had enjoyed living in their Barn Conversion for the last 25 years, but having recently retired wanted to freshen things up – and how!

They were working with architects Beckett Jackson Thompson to add a major extension to their home and we had the pleasure of joining the team whilst plans were being developed.

The end result was the creation of a beautiful open-plan living space downstairs with kitchen, snug and dining areas which lead on to a wonderful double height living room.

Upstairs the extension created a superb master bedroom suite with dressing areas, bathroom and shower.

Two further WC/guest bathrooms were also created.

We worked with the architects to develop styles and finishes for the kitchen and bathrooms, designing layouts and placement of plumbing and electrics. We also worked with the clients to advise the kitchen designers, Dale Penney, on colour and work surface and liaised with them over the final layout.

Then we set too create a contemporary interior that our clients could use as a base for the considerable amount of entertaining that they do.

The downstairs needed to provide two specific seating areas – an intimate snug directly off the kitchen and a rather grander sitting room. This latter room needed to provide comfortable lounging in the double height room with acres of storage hiding the TV and making a focal point of a wood burning stove – not to mention picture windows with great views of the newly landscaped gardens.

We linked the two seating areas with the integral dining area featuring bespoke finished Lloyd Loom Chairs.

The new guest bathroom and WC allowed us to indulge a passion for natural limestones & marbles in combination with metallic wallpapers and statement fabrics.

Upstairs, the master suite is dominated by an imposing bespoke bed which features considerable hidden storage space behind. Strong colours and oppulent finishes provide the perfect adult environment with open access to separate bathing and dressing areas.

The en suite shower features one of the nicest marbles we have come across.

Lighting throughout the property is a mixture of modern lamps and refurbished antique chandeliers for a truly spectacular effect.
